AI leads a new era of nuclear energy! Can the nuclear energy sector in US stocks and Hong Kong stocks still be bought?

2024-10-21

As of October 21, at the close, 699 stocks rose in Hong Kong stocks, 1337 stocks fell, and 1034 stocks closed flat.

Notably, CGN Mining rose by more than 11% intraday and finally closed up 8.33%.

In terms of news, Amazon signed an agreement with Dominion Resources to invest over 500 million US dollars to develop a small modular reactor project near

the existing North Anna nuclear power plant to supply energy for the cloud computing platform AWS. The share prices of

uranium producers (such as Cameco) also rose stimulated by the growth in demand for nuclear reactor fuel. BWX Technologies

said that its NFS subsidiary has been selected as one of the successful bidders for high-assay low-enriched uranium conversion services by the US Department of Energy.

Neil Mehta, an analyst at Goldman Sachs Group, maintained a "buy" rating on Cameco and maintained a target price of 55 US dollars.

Scott Deuschle, an analyst at Deutsche Bank, maintained a "buy" rating on BWX Technologies and raised the target price to 129 US dollars.

Barclays Bank maintained an "overweight" rating on Dominion Resources and raised the target price to 58 US dollars.

From another perspective, Huaxi Securities said that in September, the actual global market price of uranium was 64.63 US dollars per metric ton,

reaching a nearly 15-year high. The bank pointed out that since 2024, Kazakhstan's national atomic energy company

has lowered the utilization rate of production in 2024 due to a shortage of sulfuric acid supply in the first quarter,

which has had a greater impact on the supply list. In its second-quarter report for 2024, it was stated that the limited supply

of sulfuric acid and the delay in the construction progress of newly developed deposits may have an adverse impact on the

company's production plan for 2025. In general, the industry's supply and demand pattern still maintains an optimistic stance in supporting uranium prices.‍‍‍
